Season of Revivals

I’m back from vacation! Did y’all miss me? Actually, did y’all notice I was gone? Honestly, I meant to post an update about taking two weeks off for summer vacation, and never got around to it here on the website. That won’t stop me from announcing my return, or from outlining my plans for the next few months! I have plans, of course, and we might as well start by returning to the inciting project for said plans.

Seriously Fun

Before I vanished for a bit, I did manage to put a bow on The Serious Samathon, my first review series in several years. Not only did I finish it far faster than I initially expected, I also enjoyed it way more than I ever thought I would. This was a truly eye-opening experience, helping me realize how inspiring and motivating the review series concept itself is for my writing. Even before I finished it, I was thinking ahead to what review series I would want to do next. While I definitely won’t be returning to monthly review-a-day series, I have all the drive in the world to keep going with new series every few months. And I know what we’ll be doing, too!

Return of the Creeps

Everyone remembers my good ol’ Spooky Games series that I used to do every Halloween. What you might not remember is that a few years ago, I started a new project to go back and remaster the original Spooky Games review lineup, because those never made it here to the website. That informal series, Spooky Games: Or1gins, got a few entries in before I shelved it along with the whole review series concept. Now that I’m back in the review series spirit, though, it seems like the perfect time to return and finish it off! So that’s next on the schedule, with a new review from that list coming up this very Friday.

A Big Shot

I’ve got plans beyond just the next series, too. I don’t know how long it’ll take to remaster all those remaining horror reviews, but sometime after that, I’d like to launch into a big honkin’ shmup series. I’ve played several solid ones recently, including Steredenn pictured above, and I think they’d be a blast to take a look at on streams and then pull together some words for a proper series. I’m not going to make any promises just yet, though, because I also might end up doing something new and Spooky Games-ish for this Halloween, too. But between those two concepts, I’d say you can bet on another big review series in the coming months.

I hope you’re as excited to read some themed reviews as I am to keep doing them! Writing reviews for so many years has been a journey with many twists and turns, and this isn’t the only time where I’ve made a new discovery about what I love and what I want to be doing. I appreciate you being along for the ride, and I hope you’ll enjoy everything I have in the works!
