Weeklong Deals for 1/27/20

Man I could hardly wait for this, the first big Weeklong Deals after the fourth big sale this season! Most of this list is going to be intensely familiar to you, but I’d still heartily encourage a look at the likes of The Painscreek Killings and Daily Chthonicle if you’ve dodged those gems thus far. Ghoulboy and Tusker don’t come around that often either, so this could be your chance.
We made our February Reader’s Choice picks this morning before the sale ended, and added MO:Astray and Rain World to our upcoming Platformebruary series. You’ll be able to see me take these titles on this Wednesday on our Twitch channel if you like live impressions. Also if you want to participate in the Reader’s Choice selections for future months, head on over to our Patreon page to find out how that works. You don’t need to be a Patron to pick games, either!
DEAL GOOD
The Painscreek Killings (Review) – One of the few honest-to-god murder mystery detective games on Steam
Stronghold HD (Review) – Real good castle siegin’
Stronghold Crusader HD (Review) – Whole lot more castle siegin’
Dead Effect 2 (Review) – Middling sci-fi zombie shooter propped up by some crazy character progression
Orbt XL (Review) – Fun little arcadey thing where you try to maintain your orbit
Hero of the Kingdom II (Review) – My personal favorite in this chill trading sim series
Ghoulboy (Review) – Charming retro platformer, not even quite as evil as the games it imitates
RymdResa (Review) – Bizarre roguelike take on the Asteroids genre
Daily Chthonicle (Review) – Very unique horror management sim about investigating and reporting on eldritch horrors
Tusker’s Number Adventure (Review) – Neat little creepy thing about a malfunctioning edutainment title
DEAL BAD
Diorama Dungeoncrawl (Review) – This one’s close to being good, but just doesn’t quite make it
Dead Effect (Review) – Perfectly banal sci-fi zombie shooter
Deadly 30 (Review) – Utterly uninteresting zombie survival
rooMaze (Review) – Would be a neat dungeon crawler if it were remotely fair
Space Hack (Review) – It would take years of careful study and development to make another ARPG this functionally terrible
Chaos Domain (Review) – Strong contender for worst platformer on Steam
