Weeklong Deals for 9/24/18

If you’ve got some serious time to kill, these Weeklong Deals are for you. Loads of notable RPGs (along with loads more obscure ones) are discounted, from the Shadowrun series all the way back to Arcanum. We’ve also got a bunch of classic roguelikes, and a mess of bad platformers to choose from if that’s your thing.
This week’s reviews will cover Deep Sky Derelicts and Immortal: Unchained, two recent titles I’ve streamed that have definitely grown on me with time. Speaking of streams, we’ll be finishing up The Messenger tonight, playing some free horror games on Wednesday including the new Rusty Lake title, and taking a look at Megaquarium and It Lurks Below on Friday. Drop by the channel at 9pm PST to join the party!
(We’re also talking about other Weeklong Deals and games on Discord if you feel like chatting!)
INDEED
Crypt of the Necrodancer (Review) – This rhythm roguelike might beat your ass, but you’ll love every second of it
Caves of Qud (review) – The wildest sci-fi old-school open-world roguelike around
Shadowrun Returns (review) – A fine return to the setting and a decent proof-of-concept for the RPGs that followed
Screencheat (Review) – Neat little FPS that lives on in bot matches
Submerged (Review) – Big on atmosphere and small on gameplay, this one’s still a lovely world to explore
Nightmares from the Deep 2: The Siren’s Call (Review) – Not as solid as the first but still an above-average hidden object joint
Sproggiwood (Review) – Still the cutest little classic roguelike out there
Shadowgate (Review) – Fine revival of the classic horror adventure
The Dream Machine (Review) – Dark and sometimes shocking horror adventure through the landscapes of the subconscious
Book of Demons (Review) – Diablo 1 as a papercraft on-rails hack-and-slash adventure is pretty good, it turns out
Back to Bed (Review) – Neat little puzzler with Dali-inspired art
Port Royale 2 (Review) – Dated, but still one of the best trading sims on Steam
Project AURA (Review) – Ridiculously complex and obtuse, but if you can dig past that there’s a neat sci-fi city builder here
Torchlight (Review) – There’s almost no reason to play this when other ARPGs exist, but it isn’t bad per se
Blackbay Asylum (review) – Janky, trashy horror adventure with some pretty cool parts
NAY
The Bridge (Review) – Doesn’t really live up to the standards set by the art or its peers
Diamo XL (Review) – Creative, but not really a very fun arcade game
Vertiginous Golf (Review) – Crappy golf game with a crappy theme
Deadly Traps (Review) – Possibly the least memorable game in my library
